A Large Pair of Staffordshire Figures
Hundreds of pottery factories were set up in Staffordshire during the Victorian period, many of them producing crued colourful figures, sold to decorate the more humble households. In a dark cottage in winter they must have seemed so bright and joyful, their colours brightening any room they were displayed, from kitchen to bed chamber.
This is a large pair of staffordshire figures with the prince of Wales and princess on horseback. The Victorians had an obsession with there royal family and they would be depicted in lots of pottery figures.This is the son and daughter of queen Victoria.These would have been in the home of a low to middle income family.
The overall condition to both figures is good apart from a repair to the front leg of the princes Horse.
