An Early 20th Century Straw Boater
The name boater originates from Venice, as it was the hat worn by the Gondeliers. From the end of the Victorian period right through until the 1930/40, everybody who could afford a boater would have worn one in summer, mostly gentleman initially, but eventually they became popular with ladies as well.
This boater was made at the beginning of the 20th century and has the traditional black band. It is marked size 7 1/8 and was made in England.
The condition is very good with no splits.
