A Victorian Fern Engraved Comport
Pteridomania or " fern fever " was a Victorian craze for ferns. Decorative arts of the period presented the fern motif in pottery, glass, metal, textiles and wood, with ferns appearing on everything.
This is a fine fern engraved comport or Gaza on a pedestal base, used to display fruit or small pastries.
Condition is very good.
