Victorian Ink Well with Marble Base
Before the invention of the fountain pen, all correspondence would be done using a dip pen and ink. Inkwells came in all shapes and sizes and for all pockets, from the humble stone bottle to the wonderfully ornate bronze and silver inkwells.
This is a smart gilded brass inkwell on a marble base, the marble is grooved to hold a dip pen.
The gilding is in good condition, the marble base has no cracks, there are some very tiny flea bites to the marble which are hard to see, generally in very good condition.
Dimensions : 15cm x 15cm x 13cm high.
